The 2014 Insignia picks up front- and rear-end design tweaks, and a new dash design it shares with the US-market Buick Riviera.
There’s subtle but significant changes at both ends, with redesigned headlights, a broader grille, new bumpers and new tail-lights setting the 2014 Insignia apart from the pre-facelift model.
In the cabin, there’s a brand-new new steering wheel design with a flat-bottomed sports look, a more compact centre pad and new audio/cruise controls.
The centre instrument panel has also shaken off its outdated layout, gaining a larger display screen and a more spread-out button configuration.
As before, the 2014 Insignia will be offered in Europe in four-door sedan, five-door liftback sedan, and wagon form. Australian options will likely again include the sedan and wagon models only.
The new 2014 Opel Insignia is proportionately wider and lower at the back. The chrome strip is placed on the lower tailgate and includes Opel logo. Brake lights are lengthen and include a narrow reversing lights. In this way, tail lights are visually divided into two parts.
In addition, the Opel Insignia also offers an array of technological, security and features to enhance comfort. This includes radar and ancillary systems based on cameras, the adaptive cruise control to alert the lateral blind corner, warning of a direct collision and the system of the second generation park assist, premium seats certified by AGR and “Open & Start” system for entry and ignition without key.
At Opel say, that during the development of the cockpit, they were focused on three criteria: clear, simple and intuitive, therefore, offer customization services for information and entertainment, and comfort and safety for the driver and front passenger.
The control panel will have a great simplicity, so that now there are only a few buttons, and system management for information and entertainment will be quicker and intuitive. The new generation of multimedia systems can be operated by touching the 8-inch display. From the home screen, the driver can access all the functions and sub-menus, such as radio stations, song titles, links to your smart-phone or 3D navigation map, and pressing the button, the touch-screen, voice control, or making a brand new touch-fall.
Also the new 2014 Opel Insignia comes with expanded range of engines so there will be choice of three alternative drive systems – gasoline, diesel engine and engine power plants that use LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). Engines will have range from 110 hp to 325 hp.
The consumption, on Insignia with new 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine which will produce 120 hp, will be only 3.7 liters of fuel per 100 km in the combined cycle.Emission of CO2 will be only 99 g / km This version of engine will be combined with a 6-speed transmission system and the Start / Stop system.
Also there will be offer of turbo diesel engine with 120 hp that will develop 320 Nm torque, a model with 140 hp that will develop 370 Nm. These high values of torque are because of the use of automatic overboost function. The new 2014 Opel Insignia with diesel engine 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI with 195 hp will reaches torque values of 400 Nm.
Among the turbo petrol engines are allocated two units with direct injection: 2.0 SIDI Turbo with 250hp and 400 Nm of torque, and the 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 170ks and 260-280 Nm.of torque. Both engines can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and start / stop function, or a new six-speed automatic transmission. In addition to front-wheel drive, 2.0 L SIDI version is available with drive on all four wheels.
As an alternative to conventional drive systems there is a cost-effective option, the Opel Insignia 1.4 installation o with 140 hp with a maximum torque of 200 Nm. Like the petrol version, a variant of the liquefied petroleum gas meets the strict criteria of the future Euro 6 standards when it comes to emissions, with fuel consumption of 7.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 124 g / km.
The car will be available first to customers in Germany, from 21 June, in versions with four-and five-door model, as well as the Sports Tourer version. Prices for new Insignia will start at 24.325 euro
